VIDEO: I'm Big Sister And I'm Here To Save You From Big Brother
A Collaboration with Noel Spangler of New World Humor
To BB or to BS?
I’m delighted to share a brand-spanking-new video in collaboration with NYC-based writer, Noel Spangler who excels in making those of us with two eyes wide open chortle on the regular. Here we invite you to spend a few minutes exploring the seductive pull of future-present dystopian technology:
Doesn’t she sound like an absolute sweetheart? Of course, I trust her motives… don’t you? Sign up immediately!
The Making of Big Sister
Maybe you can tell, but I had a lot of fun with this one. Noel and I spent a while trying to decide which piece of his I should work on. As soon as he sent me Big Sis, I said, “Oh yeah, that’s it!” And I knew exactly what the soundtrack would be:
Exquisite Insomnia was made with my dear friend, Paco Seren, who is kind of a big deal, musically, in Spain. Well, actually the whole album — Dark Sight of the Moon — was made with him over five trips to his studio in Galicia over 18 months, with all his musical friends dropping by to add their part. The origin story of this particular song is funny; there were indeed “Ten Good Reasons” to make it. It’s late so I’ll save it for another post.
Now I’m thinking about a video I made in 2018 (and never published — even Paco hasn’t seen it) — for an interlude on that album, Em Pee Three.
How Paco and I came to collaborate in the first place is a cool story. It involves Myspace (who remembers Myspace?!) and the linguistic skills of his lovely missus were of paramount importance given that I could speak Spanish only un poco and Paco was similarly limited in English.
Miss you, Pavo
That’s not a typo.
Miss you, Mavi,
We be Em Pee Three.
